The beach is the epitome of relaxation: unending waves, warm sun rays, a good book while reclining on a soft towel, or even a game of beach volleyball after gathering seashells from the beaches. The beach is the best place to feel like you’re on vacation.

There are lots of lovely beach locations across the world, from the tropical seas of the Maldives to the reef-filled, turquoise-hued waters of the Seychelles, to the busy shoreline of New England’s Nantucket Island.

Before you go to one of these sandy hotspots, here are a few pointers to help you get the most out of your trip to the beach.

Keep your valuables safe

Do you like to spend the day splashing in the waves or practicing your new surfing skills? Make sure your valuables are secure at home, or at least out of sight, so you can focus on the game rather than those personal objects trapped in water. How to do that?  Place your cash, cards, keys, and phone in the last place anybody would check, such as within food and beverage packaging.

Empty food and drink containers may be a clever method to hide your treasures as long as you have a place to wash them. Money, for example, maybe quickly wrapped up and stowed away in crisp packets, sunscreen bottles, beverage cans, or bottles. Smartphones may also fit into crisp packs or cans with ease. While leaving valuables unattended on the beach is always risky, these items can at least help keep them hidden.

Invest in a Waterproof Dry Bag and Waterproof Smartphone Pouch

Simply place your belongings in the big dry bag, and your sealed bag will be ready to join you while swimming. You won’t have to worry about someone taking your belongings because the bag will float on the surface next to you. Dry bags, on the other hand, are not appropriate for diving. Also, search for a bag with many compartments so you can keep track of your belongings.

If you want to take your smartphone to the beach and into the water, a waterproof dry bag with a lanyard is the best option. You can also get a waterproof dry bag for touch-sensitive phones that allows you to use your phone in the water. In fact, you may store some cash, keys, credit cards, or tiny jewelry in the waterproof pouch. Just make sure the lanyard is securely around your neck or snugly wrapped around your wrist when swimming.

Ride the safety wave

Who can say no to a day of leaping waves? Simply keep an eye on your whereabouts. When you go in the water, pick a stationary landmark and verify where you are in relation to it on a regular basis, as the currents will generally shift you down the beach a bit.

Riptides, also known as rip currents, are strong water currents that move away from the shore. If you are caught in a riptide, the National Weather Service advises against battling it. Swim in the opposite direction of the current, following the beach. Alternatively, you can try to float or tread water until the current dies down. Another approach is to notify a lifeguard by flailing your arms and shouting for assistance toward the beach. You’ll be able to surf those waves till the sun sets if you keep vigilant and calm.

Enjoy the sun in safe way

We enjoy taking naps on the beach as well. Before you snooze, make sure you’ve increased your S-P-F. By sticking to a sunscreen routine, you may avoid the lobster appearance and focus your attention on having fun. The American Academy of Dermatology suggests using sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30, which will block 97 percent of the sun’s radiation. For continuous coverage, reapply every two hours. Apply a water-resistant sunscreen and reapply if you’ve just gotten out of the pool. Is the sum correct? Apply a teaspoon of sunscreen to your face, two teaspoons to your chest, and two teaspoons to each leg.
